At the time it was covered with bush and scrub. Working hard to clear the site, they soon had cows grazing and vegetables growing. More hard work led to vineyards and orchards. “For eleven years,” Josip Babich would often say, “the sun would never see me in bed.” All that hard work paid off. Today at any given moment, the sun’s shining on a glass of Babich wine somewhere in the world.
