A century of success started by the fire

Josip Babich worked hard to provide a good life for his family.

He is remembered as a wise man with a broad vision, despite his lack of a formal education. He had been taught to value learning back in Croatia, by his father Petrov. Eager to educate his children as best he could, Petrov taught Josip to read and write by the fire; tracing the alphabet with his finger in the ashes on the hearth.
